Against the picturesque backdrop of Umrangso, Dima Hasao, Falcon Festival stands as a passionate endeavor dedicated to the conservation of the magnificent Amur Falcon bird.
A Remarkable Annual Event:
Falcon Festival, held in Umrangso, Dima Hasao, is an annual event that unfolds every year. This festival carries a crucial mission – creating awareness about Amur Falcons, the longest-traveled migratory birds. These remarkable creatures grace our skies from mid-October to mid-November, roosting in Dima Hasao. Sadly, due to lack of awareness, these birds used to be hunted down. In response, the Blue Hill Society, an NGO from Haflong, Dima Hasao, stepped forward. Collaborating with Wildlife Trust of India, the
Department of Forest (Assam), Dima Hasao District Administration, North Cachar Hills Autonomous District Council, and various local youth forums, they have taken the initiative to protect our winged friends, the Amur Falcons, from harm’s way.
